ID No: 7969 Name: Egyoku Domyou Dates: 1632-1721 Sect: Zen. Obaku.
Text: Painting of Kanzeon Bodhisattva. A moon goes down to the west, the wind is blowing. Fudo-son and Kanzeon Bodhisattva appear in every phenomena. Painted by Egyoku respectfully at Sho-ke in the winter of 1671.
Temple: The Obaku sect. Houn-ji, in Osaka. The 3rd chief abbot of Zuisho-ji, Tokyo. Kenshu-ji, Ishikawa. Tokou-ji, Yamaguchi.
Data: He was ordained as a Rinzai Zen monk when 17 years old. Dharma transmission from Mokuan Shoto in age of 40. He also practiced Zen under Doja Chogen, Ingen Ryuki and Sokuhi Nyoitsu. The young Hakuin Zenji visited him for Zen practicing.
