Temple: The Soto sect. The 32th abbot of Zenkyu-in in Matsumoto, Nagano. The 22nd abbot of Tentoku-in in Kaga, Isikawa.
Data: Pen name: Mu'un Donin. Dharma transmission from Koun Zuimyo in Soju-ji. He became the abbot of Zenkyu-in in 1832. He brought up many outstanding students like, Ekido, Daisatsu, Nyozen, Tokan and so on who were leaders in Soto Sect in later years. He was invited to be the 22nd abbot of Tentoku-in in 1846. He founded Enmei-ji in Aichi, Zensan-ji and Chosen-in. He was well-known as "Unlettered Tomon", meaning he didn't cling to letters or learning. He was, so to speak, a Zen master of concentration to sitting Zen.
